Welcoming Mushikiwabo, IDECAF Director Nguyen Ngoc Lan said the institute, founded 40 years ago, has acted as a bridge to bring French cultures and language closer to the citizens of Ho Chi Minh City and introduce Vietnamese culture to the French-speaking community and foreign expatriates in the city.

Through its “Espace Emploi et Stages Francophones”, IDECAF has played a role in the development of the French-speaking workforce and the connection of students learning French with the network of companies in French-speaking countries such as France. , Belgium, Switzerland and Canada at HCM Ville and in the south of the country. provinces.

It also serves as an advisory body to the Foreign Ministry and the Municipal People’s Committee on diplomacy and cultural policies, she said. The Director hoped to receive additional support from OIF in the future, for example, allowing IDECAF to join more activities of Francophone cultural centers run by OIF around the world.

The Secretary General of the OIF, for her part, highly appreciated the diversity of activities organized by IDECAF to promote the French language and the Francophonie among local populations, especially young people.

Mushikiwabo also praised IDECAF for its achievements over the past four decades, saying that a model like IDECAF must be multiplied in other French-speaking countries. She undertook to provide all possible conditions for IDECAF to strengthen its role within the OIF.
