CAIRO – August 21, 2022: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark inaugurated on Saturday evening the third edition of the Logos Coptic Youth Forum with the theme – this year – “Back to Roots”.

The forum is held in Wadi Al Natroon and brings together 200 young Coptic expatriates affiliated with a total of 35 dioceses.

Pope Tawadros II inaugurated two Coptic churches in Austria in July. In addition, the Pope launched in August 2021 the Cathedral of Saint Macarius in his monastery in Wadi El-Natrun.

On July 26, 2021, the Egyptian cabinet led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced the legalization of the status of 76 churches and service buildings, bringing to 1,958 the total number of churches and affiliated buildings that have so far been authorized by the committee.

On January 9, 2021, Egypt’s Housing Ministry issued a decision to allocate land to establish 37 churches in various new towns, Walid Abbas, Deputy Housing Minister, revealed. In an interview with Egypt Today, Abbas said the government’s New Urban Communities Authority ordered the allocation of land for 30 churches in different new towns from 2014 to 2017.

Abbas added that the authority had also approved the establishment of seven other churches in new cities in 2018, in addition to the Church of the Nativity, the largest church in the Middle East which was inaugurated in the new administrative capital. of Egypt.
