On Tuesday, September 13, a Singaporean man took to an online news forum to share his disappointment with an experience at a local bar. “(Has) anyone here experienced bars or restaurants prioritizing serving expats over local customers?” wrote the Singaporean, before recounting the events that would have taken place.

“We were in a bar popular with expats,” the post read, “and we couldn’t help feeling we were the last priority in service compared to other foreign customers.”

The individual claimed not to have been a demanding customer, saying “we were left alone except when ordering and requesting an invoice”.

The author of this article revealed that this type of experience is not isolated, as the same problem has arisen in different places in Singapore.

In response to this, many online users of the forum flocked to the post and shared their own similar experiences which they see as bias towards foreigners. The establishments in their memories would have taken place ranged from restaurants, bars and even taxis.
