JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Broadcast Engineering and under the direction of the Senior Digital Broadcast Engineer, the Digital Broadcast Engineer specializes in the installation, operation and corrective maintenance of selected digital audio and video systems and, as a member of the broadcast engineering team, participates in the maintenance and installation of digital broadcast equipment. Provides problem-solving customer support for broadcast staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As an engineer specializing in the installation, operation and corrective maintenance of digital audio and video systems.

  • Manages digital audio and video system servers in Windows Active Directory environment.

  • Performs administrative tasks on VMware and Network Attached Storage (NAS) / Storage Area Networks (SAN).

  • Performs day-to-day troubleshooting and maintenance of digital broadcast applications on Windows desktops and servers.

  • Creates and maintains systems documentation.

  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment and develop solutions to support the broadcast mission.

  • Can be assigned to support offices and assist them with their specific digital broadcast systems issues throughout Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East, North America and other locations , if necessary

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Combination of education and experience;

• Engineering degree or related degree.

Professional experience:

• 3+ years of experience supporting MS Windows 2008 or higher (physical/virtual), MS SQL Server and Active Directory servers;

• Experience with VMware and vCenter support;

• Support for Linux systems, preferably CentOS;

• User experience with digital audio and video editing software packages (Adobe Premiere and Audition).

Skills :

• Ability to work with other team members – be a team player, who can interact and function effectively with peers and other associates in a collegial, yet demanding work environment.

• Computer systems engineering;

• Digital audio and video engineering;

• Relevant software knowledge (SW for audio/video processing)

Languages ​​:

• Proficiency in the Czech language (mandatory)

• Practical knowledge of oral + written English (mandatory)

This is a full-time position recruited locally on a one-year assignment initially, with the possibility of extension for an indefinite contract after one year. The opportunity is preferably open to applicants with the legal right to work in the Czech Republic, who are expected to work at the RFE/RL Prague office in a hybrid work model combining office and remote work in the Czech Republic.

The level of remuneration will be determined according to the seniority of the candidate, his expectations and the salary ranges of the company.
