Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that there are huge opportunities for overseas Pakistanis to make safe investments in the Central Business District and Ravi Urban Development Authority projects.

The Prime Minister’s statement came as he chaired a meeting to review the progress of said plans. “Record revenue of Rs 57.88 billion was generated from two commercial land auctions in the CBD,” he said.

Appreciating the efforts of the CBD team, the Prime Minister said the government has targeted unused dead capital across the country and converted it into sustainable revenue generating initiatives.

“Unplanned and unmanaged urban sprawl would affect food security where green spaces were converted into residential and commercial areas,” he said. “The government was taking an environmentally friendly approach to new urban projects to meet residential and commercial needs as well as preserve green spaces.”

The Prime Minister has ordered the Punjab government to take legal action against illegal housing companies selling land in the floodplains, risking the lives and investments of the general public.

Earlier, the forum was briefed on the progress of CBD and RUDA projects including the first Lahore city center auctions, construction of a captive power plant, Chahar Bagh, Rakh Jhok National Park, the RUDA technology park, the 10,000 apartment district dedicated to overseas Pakistanis, the sewage treatment plant and other amenities.
