Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft is expected to begin executing a contract with a roofing company soon to replace a large portion of the roof at Ellison High School on the north side of the building. During Tuesday’s school board meeting, administrators could approve the ranking order proposed by the contractor district to complete the project.

The lowest bidder, according to the staff report on the Agenda, is Texas Roofing Company, which has offered $ 3.79 million. The offer also includes a project contingency allowance of $ 300,000.

Due to supply chain issues, contractors can only guarantee offers for 48 hours after submitting an offer.

District officials recommend adding $ 100,000 for an additional contingency in the event of a price increase since the bid was submitted.

With additional contingencies, the project is estimated at $ 3.89 million, exceeding the budgeted amount of $ 3.38 million.

The project is funded by the Capital Improvement Project and the KISD General Fund. Any additional funds needed to cover the cost of the project over budgeted funds will come from the general fund surplus budget.

Other items on the agenda include future planning for the expansion of headquarters, employee daycare and employee health clinic, and discussion of board policies and procedures regarding the public forum.
